You probably have already seen this, as it's a project that's been ongoing for a while now. The premise is that 1000 journals are sent out in the open, and passed along between friends and strangers. Great Paper Sculpture Book

In response to Eunice's post on Peter Callesen's paper art, an art form that I used to experiment with myself, I have a great beginner's book on paper art which guides you through all sorts of complex paper sculpture, paper making, pop-up art techniques, origami and much more.

You can get a used version of this book for super cheap at Amazon. Or if anyone wants to borrow it, it's been part of my library for many years!

The Work of Kozyndan

You probably already know his art, mostly recognizable by the peeps in our industry from his cover on Giant Robot's magazine. I'm a huge fan of traditional Japanese woodblock prints, so what I admire greatly about his work, is his ability to mimic that traditional style but with a modern imagination. I've been spending a lot of my free time creating these photo planets. It's a little addicting. They work best with a panoramic stitch shot with a fisheye lens for a nice 3D look, but any panoramic shot can work using the polarizer feature in photoshop.

So I was ranting a bit on Monday about how it seems like not enough people have been watching this. Please check it out! Anyone who simply likes to learn new things will enjoy this amazing program. These filmmakers spent 5 years roaming the globe to capture rare footage on HD camera. If you have HD at home, you'll be blown away by the quality of the film.

We Feel Fine

An experimental project that provides a forum for people to submit a rating of how they're feeling that day as well as brief comments. The site then takes the data and visualizes it in different manners. Lovely use of information design. Check it out.

Zoopsia at the Getty

You may have seen signs or banners hanging for this exhibition around town. It's called ZOOPSIA, the work of Tim Hawkinson, and it will be at the Getty Center through September 9th.

Tim Hawkinson creates a menagerie of zoological forms using common household and industrial items and reconfigured images of his own body.

The exhibition looks particularly interesting, in my view, because rather than exploiting animal carcuses, like some early 21st century sensationalist art has done, he uses his own form to mimic nature. Looks like this is defnitely worth checking out if you are into the art scene.
